Based on the comic... Constantine (Reeves) is a gifted man but he is not grateful of it... because it is a gift of being able to see the half-breed angels and demons that walk the earth in human form... His gift is a torment and he has tried suicide and failed... the only way he can live his life is to patrol the earth for these half-breeds and send them back to hell... he will gladly save your life from going under, but he does not want gratitude - he is an embittered man and doesn't want to be called the hero...
